How to Tackle Forced Labour in the Nordics

Online

What does forced labour look like in the Nordics? Why do we have forced labour? Which companies will be impacted by the EU Forced Labour Ban regulation?

As stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), every one of us has the right not to be held in slavery or servitude and slavery and the slave trade are prohibited in all their forms. Furthermore, the ILO convention on Forced Labour was adopted already in 1930 and is ratified by 181 States. Despite these strong instruments and national legislation, forced labour still exists today. While recognizing the existence of forced labour, many of us have perhaps thought that this takes place somewhere far away from us. Unfortunately, this is not the case as showcased by many publicly reported cases on forced labour in Finland, Denmark, and Sweden, for example related to wild berry picking, cleaning, restaurants, logistics, and construction.

The aim of this webinar is to help companies to identify, mitigate, and prevent forced labour in the Nordics, as well as understand the upcoming EU regulation on Forced Labour.

Objectives:

  • to understand how forced labour takes place in Finland, Sweden, and Denmark
  • Understand the position of victims of forced labour
  • Know the practical tools available for companies to manage forced labour risks
  • Highlight best practices and share common challenges
  • Understand the EU Forced Labour Ban and its implications to companies.
