Myth to bust: “There is no corruption in Finland”

Join us on 21 October with top experts Salla Nazarenko, Niina Ratsula, and Venla Mäntysalo to bust the myth of no corruption in Finland!

Finnish society fares extremely well in Transparency International’s Global Corruption Perception Index, in 2024 as #2. Day-to-day corruption in Finland is virtually non-existent and there is a high level of trust between citizens and public administration. However, as recent high-profile legal cases indicate, Finland is not a corruption-free zone. Recent court cases also show that not everyone in Finland is automatically immune from accepting bribes when offered nice things.

What and when?

How does Finnish corruption and bribery look like? What can we learn from legal cases? How do international monitoring organisations view Finland and its legal framework? How does best practice to tackle corruption look like? To answer these questions and raise awareness on anti-corruption, UN Global Compact Finland organizes a live event on 21 October 2025 from 14.00 to 16.00, at Alvar Aallon katu 5 C, Aallonhuippu. There will be coffee available.

Target audience

The event is open to all and aimed especially at company representatives working with compliance. The event is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice as part of the project ‘Strengthening the Fight against Corruption’ (co-funded by the European Union).

Speakers include top experts such as Salla Nazarenko, Niina Ratsula, Venla Mäntysalo, and Harri Spolander.

Programme to be confirmed soon. The event will be held in English.

This event is a part of an event series on anti-corruption, tackling issues on corruption in a national context, anti-corruption measures in international business, and anti-corruption in the context of Ukraine.
